HAPPY HALLOWEEN :)

First Party in our classroom

With the help of these wonderful parents our fearless leader, Dawn Urick, was able to pull-off a fabulous Fall Feast in our classroom! The students were so well-behaved and we all had an enjoyable time. Thanks again for sending in items and helping our classroom party be a successful one!

The students made these pumpkins. It was a peel and stick craft.
Fred the Frog even got dressed up to go sleepover Aiden's house tonight.

Brooke brought her baby brother to our party :)

Mrs. Moro and I also got to hold him! So sweet.

Showing off some of their silly prizes.

Fall Carnival Night

Saturday night was the Fall Carnival and Point O' View. I had a blast with my family and I loved seeing so many of our students there. I tried to take a picture of every child for the blog, but I know I missed a few :( Here are the pictures I did take:

BOO!!!

Instead of visiting the treasure box today, every student received a set of silly vampire teeth! I think it's safe to say that they LOVED them :) And, of course, we had to pose for some spooky pictures!

Brooke's shirt says it all: "Ghouls just want to have fun!"

Fred the Frog spent yesterday with Micah's family. I wonder who he will be going home with on Monday?!

Fred the Frog went home with Alayna last night! He had a blast going to McDonalds :)

We have been making some really cute Fall activities. We read this story and made black cats with our handprints!

A Typical Day in our Room

We have mastered the skill of walking down the hallway from buses all by ourselves in a single-file line :)

We come into the room and immediately unpack our folders, homework notebooks, snack, and library books. We have become very responsible students and do not need any help doing this!
Once we are unpacked, we know to sit down in our seats and get started on our morning work. Morning work is an easy task that is a review of what has already been taught in the week. It should take less than 15 minutes to complete.

Some students are able to complete their morning work quickly and are allowed to buddy read on the carpet while we wait for announcements to come on.

Morning announcements.

Our Hoppy Helper, Brooke, leading the way with calendar.

Still doing calendar/circle time.

We always sing our Math songs at the end of calendar. We count by 5s, 10s, and soon to be 2s. We also countdown to blastoff (10 to 0).

Language Arts is next. We were able to incorporate a little science mini-lesson into it as well. Each Monday we do a "pocket pal" that begins with the letter we are studying. Today's pocket pal was a Narwhal. We looked up pictures in google and even watched a 2 minute video on youtube. They are pretty neat creatures!

Continuing with our Nn theme, we made My Nn Book. Our classmate's name is Nevaeh and we drew her in our book!

Around 10:00 each morning we have our snack.

We go straight from snack into centers. This is part of the star center (markers, templates, writing paper).

This is part of math center. The students have an activity to complete first and then they are allowed to play with the toys in their center.

This is ABC center. Each week they have to complete the letter page the corresponds with our letter of the week.

This is Art Center. They are creating bird nests out of the big letter N.

If I am not pulling children to my back table for guided reading, we are practicing sorting our letter sounds.

An action shot of a genius at work :)

We now have TWO students (Taylor and Aiden) that can count to 100!! It's a big deal when you make it to the Lilly pad :) Great counting guys!!!
