A typical day in Kindergarten

Every morning the students unpack their bookbags and immediately get started on their morning work. We listen to the announcements and read quietly on the carpet during STAR time.
Today we went to Music class! They are learning to walk nicely in the hallway and are very respectful towards the other classrooms that are working.

In Math today we worked on the number 7. The students love to interact and write on the Promethean Board any chance they can!

We made a class book today titled, "Things We Can Do." Each child drew a picture of something that they can do really well and even wrote some beginning sounds. They loved sitting in my chair and sharing their picture with their peers.

The last part of our day is spent in Activity Stations (or Centers). Right now there are only toys out. Over the next few weeks we will slowly be introducing independent work activities that will correlate with our letter of the week. During Centers, the students are learning to socialize with their peers, to share, and to stay in their center (and not wander around the room). This is also the time where Mrs. Moro has students at her table working individually and I have students at my back table for Guided Reading and Word Study. It can get noisy at times, but it is very constructive and the students are playing nicely! I walked around the room today and took some snapshots of Center time.
