Meet Fred the Frog

My oldest daughter came home from school earlier this week with a new type of writing assignment for her homework. She had a stuffed animal dragon and a journal. "Poof" the dragon was able to have a sleep-over at our house and my daughter was able to write about his experience in the journal. She really loved it!! I thought our class would also like to try something like this (although adapted for 5 year olds instead of 8 year olds).

So, please meet Fred :)

Each night one student will be coming home with Fred, a family note, and a writing journal. Please help your child write in the journal about the things they did with Fred. They need to return everything back to school the following day and will be able to share their experiences with our Kindergarten friends :)
This is the first time I am trying something like this with our class and I really hope it turns out to be a positive learning experience for everyone! I know I am excited about it!! Thanks again to Mrs. Duke for the fantastic idea!!!
